What’s the date today?
Let’s see, it’s the 27th, the due date was the 17th. Still no baby…
Bev is more than ready to welcome the new one into the family, but the little one has only been teasing us all weekend with lots and lots of Braxton Hicks contractions that stop as soon as Bev stands. Which of course makes it nearly impossible for her to get any significant rest!
So, other than the fact that this little one will be grounded until he/she’s about 12 for making us wait so long, there has been little to get overly excited about since it’s been three days of lots of contractions without much progress. We even had my parents stay the night Saturday night in hopes of going to the hospital, and since then Bev’s parents have come to stay with us for a while… but still no baby.
And I of course am swamped with end of term work here at school, including a very big presentation on Wednesday afternoon, and lots of little papers to get done. A busy time for us all indeed!
This kid is sooo grounded…
The face of Jesus in PEI?
An interesting story coming out of PEI has drawn quite a bit of attention!
Cloth image draws visitors to P.E.I. church
It really is quite amazing that the face of Jesus shows up within the crown of thorns. Of course there’s many things that could be attributed to the cause of the face, but you really never know, do you?
Was on a little trip
Some people know that I was out of town over the reading week break. I went to Ottawa for an E&S interview to assess where I am in the process of ordination.
The interview did not go as well as hoped. In fact it was quite familiar to the last interview I had. So, we talked about that. Which was good! I know have some clear goals to work on over the next few months, goals which should really help me out.
I won’t share too many details at this time, but coming out of this interview I felt much more positive than I have for quite some time in the process.

Who here this morning has pets? Have your pets done anything that completely surprised you? Something that you never, ever expected you’d see? Bev and I have two retired racing greyhounds that we adopted when we were living in Ottawa.
One day I was in the backyard BBQ’ing some chicken for supper. As usual the dogs were in the backyard with me, lazing in the early evening sun. Bev had been out earlier in the day reading on a blanket, and left the blanket out. Zorro, our older dog had claimed this blanket for his own, and was sprawled out sleeping right in the middle of it. Ruby, the younger and more puppyish of the two was struggling to find room to lay down without being too close to Zorro. Ruby is the dog who has all the toys, Zorro is occasionally interested, but usually just prefers to sleep. He takes his retirement very seriously. So, this evening as I waited for the food to cook, I watched as Ruby paced around the blanket. Appearing to give up, she goes and grabs one of her stuffed toys. read more…

Our readings this morning offer a challenging concept to the Western world today. They speak of miraculous physical healing, which happen all through the Gospel of Mark. We don’t hear much of such a thing very often anymore, we are immersed in the logic of science and research that is played out in our laboratories and hospitals.
I’m not trying to lessen the work that these people do, it’s all very important, but we want to remember that there is still yet a presence that is beyond all others, that we come to worship this morning. read more…
