What Are We Looking For? – Sermon, Oct. 17, 2010
“What Are We Looking For?”
Jeremiah 31:27-34; Luke 18:1-8
What a year it has been in the news. First the destruction of Haiti, followed by other large earthquakes around the world causing destruction and death for many, many people.
There were floods, including the complete devastation of parts of Pakistan. Hundreds of thousands of people were, and continue to be, affected.
And just this month there was the terrible spill of toxic sludge in Hungary. Killing people and contaminating everything in its path.
So what a relief it was on Wednesday to witness the amazing rescue of the miners in Chile. All over the planet voices cheered with them, “Chi chi chi! Le le le!” read more…
Blog Action Day 2010: Water
Today bloggers are rallying to speak about a need in the world. I haven’t done anything like this before. 2 Kings 5:1-3, 7-15c; Luke 17:11-19

Family who live away take advantage of the long weekend to make treks back to their home towns. For many, this is the last time they will see one another before Christmas, and after that, probably not until next Easter weekend, or maybe even next summer. read more…
Post-wedding Blog Post
As I write this I am sitting in a cottage in northern Cape Breton. It is early October and the mountains, valleys and oceans are spectacular.
I am writing this post, not directly into my blog, but rather as a note on my macbook because I have no internet access at the friend’s cottage I am sitting in. I also have no cell phone coverage. So I am quite isolated in terms of today’s standards. But the cottage is literally feet from the ocean. To the right you see part of my view! read more…
